Kumolo Creative Space - BSD | Jakarta
Sometimes I do need to get out of town just for a little bit to find clean air, open-space places especially during this pandemic. I’ve always wanted to go to Bogor or Bandung for a mini road trip but I guess it’s kind of impossible now cause for me - it’s pretty scary going to crowded places; which leads me to this spot, Kumolo Creative Space but well, in the end - it was crowded too..
Kumolo Creative Space is located in BSD City (about 40 minutes from Jakarta) and it is newly opened since July 2020. It is located inside the Breeze Mall, which is an open-space mall. Their aesthetic space is very much pleasing to the eye and it indeed gives me the ‘Bogor-City / Bali’ vibes (minus the heat when I went there). They have different shops from cafe shops, ice cream shop, clothes, home & kitchen / basically aesthetic shops. ! At first I thought the space was quite big, turns out it’s not as big as I thought. Beware though, it’s crazy crowded on weekday evenings and weekends all day - better for you to visit at random times like weekdays in the AM (shops mostly open at 10am).
The downside is how there are no outdoor ceiling fans that could’ve been made me stay longer cause the hear in Jakarta these days is just crazy.
Place Rundown:
1. Kopi Selamat Pagi: This coffee shop is actually roasted by Guten Morgen Coffee Lab - which is one of my coffee shops that I'd like to visit in Jakarta. They open at 10 am on weekdays and 8 am on weekends. They offer different Iced Coffee with Milk mixed with different syrups too. When I went there it wasn't that crowded so I didn't have to wait to order / and the serving time is quite ok.
2. La Favore: My second stop was this Ice Cream shop. It is located right across Kopi Selamat Pagi. The spot itself is one of the most cute photo spots where people usually take pictures there and gives the whole Bali ~ Seminyak area. I got their Chocolate and Mint Flavor. I feel that their chocolate flavor tops it all but it was just ok.
3. Brood-En-Boter: This mini cafe is indeed super aesthetic. There's just one seating table there and they sell a few different breads. Their donuts are their most best-selling bread there, so I got their Nutella Donut.
Nutella Donut: Honestly, they give the nutella spread quite a lot - one bite and all you can taste is that great soft donut texture and the nutella of course.
Es Kopi Susu: My impression for this Es Kopi Susu? It's literally underrated because it is waay much better than Kopi Selamat Pagi. Their coffee leaves me a good impression, because it's strong but at the same time it gives a tingly feeling once you've come across its sweet aftertaste.
3. Mana Tea: This ice cream spot is literally super Instagrammable. It’s one of those small shops that got you screaming “AWWWW.” But.. it’s always kind of crowded so I didn’t have the chance to take my own picture here lol. They offer from ice cream to milk tea and their menu changes every 3 weeks. You can choose the toppings that you’d like to add and voila! let me take you to the dessert rundown.
I think it is definitely worth it to visit Kumolo Creative Space once in a while but seriously, visit at random times cause if you’re visiting during peak hour - boy, it’s not only it is unsafe, you won’t be able to enjoy the experience there. Before, I went there for free and I just found out starting August 7th there’s an entrance fee of IDR 50,000. I think this is quite ridiculous since it is located in The Breeze Mall. If you ask me, would I come back and pay the entrance fee? My answer would be a solid no, cause I don’t think it’s that worth it. But if you never been there, you should at least go there once.
